Fold Your Dogma with Footnotes
Fold Your Dogma with Footnotes is published in relation to the eponymous solo exhibition of the artist So Minkyung (2020, Tastehouse, Seoul). The show featured 'lol' series, which is based on images the artist collected over the years from popular culture and online. A collage of these images are first painted on the canvas, only to be completely covered by a piece of paper that has a blurry version of the image printed on it. As hidden images, So's painting questions what it means to see in the contemporary visual culture. The publication is designed by graphic designers Shin Shin, who interpreted So's 'lol' series by inserting excess paper layers to cover - only to reveal - the images (YPC Press).
